An SEO migration protects your search traffic when a website changes platform, domain or structure. Our SEO migration services cover a crawl of the old site, a 301 redirect map, launch checks and monitoring afterwards. The aim is that search engines find every important page in its new place.
What is included
What is included in our SEO migration service
Four pieces of work, from the first crawl to the weeks after launch.
Crawl and baseline
We crawl the current site and pull a Search Console baseline, so we know what ranks and what links in.
301 redirect map
Every old address is matched to its new one, so visitors and search engines land on the right page.
Launch checks
Titles, headings, canonical tags, sitemaps, robots rules and redirects are checked on a staging copy before launch.
Monitoring
After launch we watch Search Console coverage and fix errors as they appear.
How it works
How an SEO migration works
Work happens before, during and after launch.
Before launch
We crawl the old site, record what ranks, build the redirect map and test the new site on staging.
At launch
We switch the site, test every redirect, submit the new sitemaps and check that nothing important is blocked.
After launch
We check Search Console coverage and fix broken links, redirect chains and missing pages.
What affects cost
What affects the cost of an SEO migration?
Pricing depends on scope. The main factors are how many pages the site has, how much its structure changes and whether the domain or platform changes. Book a 15 minute call or email contact@zemash.com and we will confirm scope on the call.
Planning a rebuild? Include the migration in the budget from the start. Our website redesign cost guide shows where it fits.
What affects the cost
- Number of pages and URLs
- Change of platform or domain
- Ecommerce product and category volume
When you need one
When do you need an SEO migration?
Any move that changes your addresses puts traffic at risk. The common triggers are a new platform, a redesign, a domain change and an ecommerce replatform.
- New platform. Moving from one content system to another changes how pages are built and addressed.
- Redesign. New navigation and page structure can change URLs.
- Domain change. A new domain needs redirects from every old page.
- Ecommerce replatform. Product and category URLs often change, including when a WooCommerce shop moves to Shopify.
Our SEO migration checklist sets out the steps.

Questions
SEO migration questions
What is an SEO migration?
It is the planning and checking that keeps search traffic when a site changes platform, domain or structure. It covers a crawl, a redirect map, launch checks and monitoring.
How much does an SEO migration cost in the UK?
Pricing depends on scope: the size of the site, how much changes and whether the platform or domain moves. Book a 15 minute call or email contact@zemash.com and we will confirm scope on the call.
Will I lose rankings when I move to a new website?
No one can promise that you will not, because search engines decide positions. Typical causes of lost traffic are missing redirects, blocked pages and changed content, which is what our checks target.
How long does an SEO migration take?
It depends on the number of pages and how much changes. Google says most pages on a small to medium sized site take a few weeks to move, and advises keeping redirects for at least a year. Read Google’s site move guidance. We confirm timings on the call, once we know the scope.
What is a redirect map and why does it matter?
It is a list that matches every old address to its new one. It sends visitors and search engines to the right page instead of an error.
Can you migrate WooCommerce to Shopify?
The search side of that move follows the same steps as any migration: a crawl, a redirect map, launch checks and monitoring. Moving product data is separate work. Tell us what you are moving on a call and we will confirm what is in scope.
